Set in the near future when storms and droughts have displaced people all over the globe, The Swing is a comedy-drama focused on a family at the centre of their city's struggle to deal with the impact of climate change. The play is a call to action, challenging each and every one of us to take action and work together to save the planet.

David Mann, the director has gathered a wonderful cast for this timely play, featuring:  Marilynn Norry; Medina Hahn; Colleen Wheeler; Kathleen Mann; and, Parnelli Parnes.

Origins Theatre Projects is a project-based theatre company producing plays that are driven by playwrights. We seek plays that are engaging, with strong texts, and perhaps some lyrical content and keen issues. Currently, our associate supported production, Nggrfg is touring the Edingburough Fringe Festival.  Origins Theatre Projects also supports playwrights through seedling grants and with the support of the Jessies, the Gordon Armstrong Playwrights Rent Award.

Special note:  Amongst other honours, Janet Hinton is a recent Gordon Armstrong Playwright’s Rent Award winner. The award supported giving Janet some inspiration and time to write a new draft of her play The Swing.

Please attend the reading.
